Where every sip tells a story

The story begins in 1815, when Lord Byron married Annabella Milbanke here at Seaham Hall and gifted King George III a cask of SPEY Whisky — a gesture of celebration that linked Seaham to Scotland’s most storied malt.

More than a century later, local legend Alex Harvey brought that same spirit to life once more, transforming the Hall’s hidden cellars into a secret whisky route to the Americas during the glamour and secrecy of the 1920s Prohibition era — with whispers that even Al Capone was among his clientele.

A toast to Seaham’s spirited past

Today, that legacy lives on. Harvey’s Bar blends the romance of Byron’s era with the intrigue of the speakeasy age — a space of rich textures, warm amber light, and subtle sophistication. Drink or dine, we invite you to raise a glass to Seaham’s past — and to the timeless spirit of those who’ve always known how to make history in style.
